Lajupek’s diverse team comprises five office personnel and thirty factory workers. In addition to Finns, the group also includes professionals from India, China, Bangladesh, England, and Estonia. Lajupek has diligently translated onboarding materials and crucial documents into English to facilitate integration, with the goal of transitioning temporary employees to permanent positions after a set tenure.

Most international recruits come equipped with a strong work ethic, a thirst for learning, and a friendly disposition. Newcomers typically begin as component changers and can subsequently progress to machining and turning operations before branching into other roles. This flexible approach allows employees to acquire new skills and potentially pursue formal qualifications.

To fellow entrepreneurs contemplating international recruitment, Juhamatti Malm offers words of encouragement, “If you never dare to try and bring in international talent, nothing will ever change. Even the most reserved Finn will speak English when necessary.”

Power from the Network

“Our location in Hyvinkää is excellent at the moment. From here, it is easy to reach Helsinki and Tampere via highways. The area where our current office was built in 2011 is a developing industrial area,” says Malm. Lajupek primarily operates in the Uusimaa and Häme regions, positioning them to cultivate a robust local network.

International expansion is a vital part of Lajupek’s future growth. Their immediate goal is to pursue AQAP certification as a part of the strategy. This certification will open doors to international markets. The company also has room for expansion within its current facility and has secured options for additional machinery.
