Helsinki Ring of Industry's innovative food and beverage portfolio is set to expand with the Finnish biotech scaleup Enifer establishing a new factory in Kirkkonummi. The facility, slated for completion by the end of 2025 and projected to cost €33M, will convert food industry side streams into Enifer’s sustainable PEKILO® fungi-based protein ingredients. This will be the world's first commercial plant to produce such mycoprotein from side stream raw materials.

Something revolutionary is being prepared in the pilot kitchen located in the Helsinki Ring of Industry: Järvenpää-based innovators have created a sustainable, tasty, and healthier alternative to sushi rice. With rich fibre content and no carbohydrates, the KING Konjac – Sushi 2.0 is ready for global expansion.

Nestled within the Helsinki Ring of Industry, Kirkkonummi stands as one of the key players in the region's industrial landscape, also housing the Prysmian Group's flagship cable manufacturing facility. The Pikkala plant, situated in Kirkkonummi, is spearheading innovations in cable technology, contributing significantly to the global energy transition.

The Christmas market at Knehtilä organic farm in Hyvinkää is bustling. Amidst the cheerful crowd, Jyrki Raikamo, donned in a Santa hat, offering tastings of a new creation – a drink extract beverage crafted from Finnish blackcurrant leaves. As the name, POWERI, suggests, it is a real power drink.

Have you already tasted fermented faba bean? Founded in 2017, Gary Renegade has been using faba beans from Arola's organic farm since the beginning, and in 2020 the business moved to the farm wholly. It is a real local food, as the distance from the fields to the finished product is only 50 meters.

The co-operation between educational institutions and companies is active in the Helsinki Ring of Industry region. When there is a need to train workforce or recruit new employees, educational institutions and municipalities are happy to help. An excellent example is the recently launched Logis project that connects and trains job seekers to fill vacancies in the bustling logistic sector.

Located in southern Finland, Nurmijärvi has a rich history of alcohol production – alcoholic beverages have been produced for over a century. This proud tradition of craftsmanship lives on in the region today: Grönbacka Brewery, established in 2018, stands as the first and oldest commercial brewery of Nurmijärvi. This family-owned microbrewery is leading the way in environmental responsibility, notably through the pioneering use of wind power for energy production.

Pretec Finland Oy Ab, which specializes in metal parts used in rock reinforcement and the construction industry, was founded in 2013. The family business has a long tradition in the industry, as the father of Mikael and Magnus Lindberg, sold insulation to tunnel construction sites. The Pretec Group contacted the father, who was approaching retirement age, and expressed their interest in opening a unit in Finland, because of which the brothers founded Pretec Finland.

Founded in 1972, Lajupek Oy, originally a precision engineering subcontractor, has evolved into a dynamic force in high-tech industries, including healthcare and the defense sector. Today, under the leadership of CEO Juhamatti Malm, the company thrives as a contract manufacturer in the developing industrial area of Hyvinkää.

Located in Mäntsälä within a 120-year-old piggery, Authors' Distillery specializes in alcohol beverage production and distillation. Like the opening chapter of a gripping novel, this distillery's story is marked by passion, ingenuity, and an inspiring journey to international acclaim.
